Opportunity:
As the Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in managing our financial health, processes and reporting for JAPA Machinery Group & JAPA Equipment Rentals. You will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, maintaining accurate records, providing insightful analysis to support the executive team, and support in the supervision of the Corporate Services team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Supervise & manage all accounting functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Cash Management, and General Ledger maintenance.
- Prepare all CRA remittances and returns.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, cash flow, detailed departmental reports, and collaborate with internal teams to optimize budgeting and forecasting.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide strategic insights to support decision-making.
- Manage and maintain accurate records for equipment, inventories, and related costs.
- Maintain and report on metrics and key operational and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within accounting systems, methods, procedures, and internal processes.
- Maintain personnel records and employee files including on-boarding and off-boarding.
- Maintain Human Resources systems and compliance issues.
- Maintain the operational and management information systems. Act as lead support for system challenges and improvements. Evaluate and support implementation of system improvements.
- Maintain records of the administrative policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA certification is mandatory.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the ability to supervise others.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and timeliness. Good organizational ability and capability of self-direction.
